The Difference
I feel like a secret
of course I can never be
truly incognito but
I've learned how to blend in well
the girl I drank with last night really
is enthusiastic about life
the boss really wants to go far
in business
the child really wants to grow
old
the television really wants to kill us all
but the people watching really are
desperately bored
well I have nothing to hide
but many people, places & things
to hide from
plus it's hard to hide the fact
that I would like to burn
everything and start all over
the secret is:
I'm no poet
but most poets aren't
I'm just less of the other things
so here I am at
least I am not
like the rest
