Whiskey Sournotes

then...

I first saw the Whiskey Sournotes on the David Van Carson Show, back, when was it, early 50's. I made every show they played after that. The first couple gigs I saw were cut short after the Sournotes refused to tone down the lyrics. The songs were full of love, but the sleazyass club owners were not very understanding. The world in general, and Lincoln, Nebraska, in particular, were not ready yet.

Within a short time, the Sournotes captured the hearts of every cognizant being (and there were dozens back then) in Lincoln. The Whiskey Sournotes touched us. We who were fortunate enough to know them then knew that we had been chosen, selected, to carry the Sournotes Flag, to spread the Sournotes Gospel, to the world, to the cold, cruel, world.

From a little town called Nebraska... these Sournotes rapidly progressed from obscurity and shame, first to a short-lived kind of cult status, and then--BANG! ......... SUPERSTARDOM! Now awed, maybe even feared, the famous Zoo Blues Bar shows catapulted them into a kind of legendstuff. These tunes. These beautiful tunes. These sick, these unforgettable tunes had left a big ol' whiskey-stained footprint on our little minds, and we re-thought the way we thought about American music..

...now...

The Sournotes Headquarters has moved to the Twin Cities of St. Paul/Minneapolis, to be where it's colder, and crueler.

Alls I got to say about it, now in 2001, is that the music is hilariously great, and Leggo's voice is Golden. Pervertidora Records is proud to assist the Whiskey Sournotes in their quest for world domination.

Sincerely,
Chris
